Dr. Rubabaza

Dr. Placide Rubabaza has been a part of the surgical team at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital (LHAP) since 2012. He earned his medical degree at the University of Ottawa Medical School, and completed his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at McMaster University. He also earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry at the University of Ottawa.
Currently Dr. Rubabaza is the Leader of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries at LHAP, and Vice-President of the Lakeridge Health Medical Staff Association. Dr. Rubabaza sees his work as an opportunity to strengthen women’s health, not only in Canada, but also in the developing world. He has been involved with projects in Burundi, where he is from, and Benin, helping to promote maternal and child health.
Dr. Rubabaza speaks French, English, Swahili, Kirundi, a language spoken in Burundi, and Kihyarwanda, which is spoken in Rwanda.
